Maine Resident. Individuals domiciled in Maine for the entire year are taxed on income from all sources. Also considered resident are persons who maintained an abode in Maine the entire year and spent a total of more than 183 days in Maine.
Maine Part-year resident. Individuals domiciled in Maine for part of the year are taxed on all income received while a resident of Maine and on income received from sources within Maine while a nonresident. Income such as interest, dividends, alimony, pensions or income from intangible sources is not Maine-source income unless it is attributable to a business or profession carried on in Maine.
Nonresident. Individuals who are not domiciled in Maine at any time but have Maine-source income are taxed on that income.
